Safer Adventures: A Family's Game-Changing Gift

Erica Lathrop
I recently applied to receive a Veer Wagon to help keep my autistic son safe and comfortable during family outings, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. We had just returned from a family trip that involved a lot of walking, and although my kids—especially my older son, Hunter—are getting bigger, it became clear that having a stroller-style option would make a huge difference for us. The wagon is perfect for our needs. It can hold two of my three children while also carrying all of our essentials, which makes outings far more manageable. When Mar5 and A Voice for Mikey organizationS reached out offering support to families of children with autism, I didn’t hesitate to apply. Being selected to receive this wagon truly feels like a blessing. This has been a game changer for our family. Having a safe, comfortable space for my son means we no longer have to rely on physically holding onto him to prevent him from running off. That peace of mind reduces anxiety for everyone and allows us to actually enjoy our time together. What’s even more amazing is that he genuinely likes the wagon—he never tolerated a traditional stroller, but he happily sits in the wagon and even has fun in it. I can’t thank Mar5 and A Voice for Mikey enough for their generosity and support. This isn’t just a gift for my son—it’s something that positively impacts our entire family and allows us to create better, more enjoyable memories together.
